Yoga Therapy
Is a one to one trauma informed and embodied approach that integrates counselling and specific yoga practices to regulate the autonomic nervous system. This is especially useful when working with a range of physical and mental health issues.
Start where you are. Whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, this work meets you with compassion, not perfection. Reconnect with your body, regulate your emotions, and reclaim your inner calm, one breath at a time. Whether you're managing chronic stress or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, this approach offers a compassionate, embodied path to wellness.
It’s Not About “Doing It Right”
There’s no such thing as a “perfect” pose in yoga therapy. Each session is a co-creative process, honouring your pace, needs, and boundaries. Props, variations, and rest are always welcomed. This is not a workout, it’s a way in.
What happens at an assessment session?
Working therapeutically 1:1 involves a consultation to understand your health and lifestyle needs and helps inform which yoga practices would best support you.
No previous experience of yoga is needed as we will take note of physical range of movement including any pain, injury and restriction, postural alignment and breathing pattern to be able to practice within your capabilities. We will discuss the frequency of your appointments, home practice, regular reviews and overall duration of sessions.
Adult Counselling
My counselling approach is integrative and I make use of a combination of interventions from: Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Transactional Analysis, CBT and Solution Focused Therapy.
What happens at an assessment appointment?
Our first meeting is an opportunity for both of us to get to know each other and ask questions. We will discuss confidentiality of sessions and documents and you will have the opportunity to share your personal circumstances, identify and prioritise key issues to work on. We will discuss the frequency of your appointments, regular reviews and overall duration of time in counselling.
Child & Adolescent Counselling
I work in age appropriate and creative ways that suit each individual, this could include: drawing, modelling clay, Russian dolls, buttons, writing poems or songs and when preferred I also use suitable talking interventions when required.
What happens at an assessment appointment?
At a child or young person's first appointment I invite parents to attend for under 16's, so they can ask questions and I have the opportunity to share information regarding confidentiality, the frequency of appointments, regular reviews and overall time in counselling.
The young person will have the opportunity to share their personal circumstances, identify and prioritise key issues to work on.
Family Counselling
When working with families I follow an Adlerian approach to identify their issues and work to encourage parents and children to work collaboratively to find satisfactory solutions.
What happens at a first appointment?
I invite parents to attend first to learn more about them and the family, discuss confidentiality and my approach to working with families. The second meeting involves parents and children together to start work on agreeing a family goal.
